Cripple Creek

It seemed like I blinked and the weekend was gone..just like that.

It was good though. We had such beautiful weather and a great day on Sunday at Cripple Creek.

Here's BD on stage.

Nettie and Ernie (John's sister and BIL..in the black and brown) came for the day...

...and they brought Tony and Joseph, which made Jonas a very happy little boy! 

In fact, when it was time for them to leave, Jonas threw his arms around Tony and started wailing. He didn't want to let him go.

This is Kayla (our friend and a member of BD) on stage with her Grandpa and his friend. Love that I caught this cute moment when they got a standing ovation.

And, here's John and Jonas in between sets.

They have a little game..John says something like "no stretching on Sundays"...or "no smiling on Sundays"..or whatever, and Jonas thinks it's hilarious. :)

I also got to chat with lots of friends..new and old.

 The good times of summer! :)

I'm still here

I took a little break from my camera and blogging this week. But here I am. So happy it's the weekend! I have plans to get together with my school friends tomorrow. One of them will be leaving to teach in China for a year, and one just got engaged!!! :)

The band is playing at Cripple Creek on Sunday so we're planning on spending the day there. Speaking of which, if you are interested, BD just released their first album this past week! Click here to find out more. It's been a long time coming, and it feels great to have it finished!

Baby Silas & family

Here's the face to the little feet.

Baby Silas turned 3 months last Saturday. Due to the weather that day (70 kilometer an hour winds and rain), our pictures took place indoors at our house instead of out on the yard. I was a little disappointed but I think it was a good challenge for me. Susanna (mommy) is a friend of mine...in fact, we were neighbors for many years and I used to babysit her and her sisters. Imagine that!

baby wrinkles for your Monday

Are these little scrunched up feet not so cute? Sigh.

I did some 3 month baby/family pictures for a friend on Saturday. I hope to share more of them later in the week. :)

Thanks for the strawberry suggestions on the previous post..I ended up picking some up from Vandenberg's today. That's my idea of "picking strawberries." ;) Now they are sitting on my counter waiting to be put in the freezer. I better get to it..have a great day!!

this week's project

has been branch clean up.

It's an ongoing thing really, we do some here and there and before we mow etc., but this time we're doing it all.

See these piles?  These rows of willows are so brittle, they break very easily in the wind and shed A LOT!

Look closely..can you see what Jonas found?

We actually found 2 frogs that day...he liked them from a distance but didn't care to touch them..yet. I know that day is coming.

Jonas loves it on the tractor...he sits for hours sometimes while we're mowing.

And the thing is, he really, truly likes helping outside. He takes his work very seriously. Just like he takes everything else very seriously I guess.

  

These are good times. Us being together. The kind of times we'll look back on one day with fond memories. I know, I'm very sentimental..but it won't be long til Jonas will be in school and we won't be his world anymore, you know? I know that's life, but it just makes me treasure these times all the more.

Now, totally off topic, but can anyone recommend a good place close to Winkler to get strawberries? I'd like to get some next week and a couple of places I know of shut down. Thanks.

mini golfing

We took Jonas on Friday..his first time.

He loved it, but got a little feisty when John tried showing him how to hold the golf club. So we pretty much just let him go.  For the most part he kind of swung his club like a baseball bat, and carried his ball (and ours) to wherever he wanted them. :)

And looky here..I even manged to get in a picture...

or two.

Doesn't he just look so grown up here? Sigh.

And a little visit with Bob and Larry at the end. (I don't know the names of the other ones.) I think Jonas wears pigtails well, don't you think?

dirt road '08

You may remember last year Jonas and I took a little drive to the middle of nowhere and took some pictures. We found the same place again last week and had lunch there. Expect now I realize it's not the middle of nowhere...it's just a couple of miles from where we live now. :)

So we had lunch...

..and did some playing....

I'm not sure why I feel the need to go have a picnic in a ditch somewhere when we now have plenty of room on our yard. Change of scenery I guess. :)

Also, happy belated Canada Day!! Jonas and took in the activities in Winkler yesterday while John played at a Canada Day event in Saskatchewan. Hope your long weekend was good!
